These hand painted beads are from the Greek isle of Mykonos. They are so beautiful, you must see them.  Some of these beads are the "evil eye" beads.  The evil eye, as visual device, is known to have been a fixture in Greece dating back to at least the 6th century BC, when it commonly appeared on drinking vessels.  The "evil eye" is seen as good luck and a way to ward off evil.
